The current research aims to identify the impact of organizational and external environment variables on strategic leadership practices in the Palestinian governmental institutions. The researcher used the
descriptive analytical method for this purpose and the questionnaire was used as an instrument for collecting data. The size of study population was 2682 employees and the sample size was 391 individuals and it was a random stratified sample. Moreover, the statistical analysis program "SPSS" was used as a statistical package for entering and processing data and testing hypotheses. The study found that there is a statistically significant relationship between strategic leadership practices and external environment variables. Also, external environment variables (together) have an impact on strategic leadership practices by a percentage of 51% (adjusted R2 = 0.51). Furthermore, there is a statistically significant relationship between strategic leadership practices and organizational environment variables. In addition, organizational environment variables (together) have an impact on strategic leadership practices by a percentage of 45.6% (adjusted R2 = 0.456). The researcher recommends that it is necessary to monitor the indicators of different external environment variables with focusing on economic, political and legal environment. In addition, it is necessary to work on developing the different organizational environment variables starting with organizational construct, then organization resources and finally organizational culture.
