Abstract

 

 

 

            The study has aimed at identifying the role of digital public relations in creating an interactive environment in government institutions, and the extent to which public relations employees get benefit from digital applications in achieving public relations functions. This study is a descriptive one in which a survey approach and a comparative method have been used. The study has included a comprehensive sample of the study community as it has been applied to all public relations employees in (Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education), which has amounted to (88) employees. A number of employees are as follows: Ministry of Health (45), Ministry of Finance (7) and Ministry of Education (36) in the Gaza Strip. The questionnaire has been used as a tool for collecting data from the respondents.

The study has come up with the following findings:

  1. The specializations of public relations workers have reached the first rank in governmental ministries in Gaza for the category of other specializations such as (Health administration – Education – Arabic Language – Computer engineering) with a percentage of (42%), while public relations specialization has reached a weak percentage of (28%).
  2. The study has shown that one of the most important advantages of creating an interactive environment in the governmental ministries is the use of digital applications as a means of communication in the first place with a percentage of (81.8%), which is more interactive compared to traditional means of communication.
  3. The study has shown that the goal of digital public relations in governmental ministries for creating an interactive environment is (publishing positive image of the ministry through electronic media) with a high rate of (92%). Other goal paragraph has reached the last rank with a very weak rate (1.1%) such as documenting the achievements of ministries in providing services for the public.
  4. The study has shown that one of the most important digital communication strategies used in public relations is the dialogue strategy.
  5. The study has shown that the most digital applications used in ministries for creating an interactive environment are: (Whats APP) with a percentage of (97.7%), (Facebook) with a percentage of (94.3%) and e-mail with a weak percentage of (38.6%), followed by (Twitter).

The study has come to the following recommendations:

  1. The necessity to show interest in appointing specialized cadres in digital public relations departments in governmental ministries to keep pace with the modern technological development in communication for creating an interactive environment with the public.
  2. The continuation of using digital applications in the communication process in public relations departments and working to develop them in line with the development of modern means of communication. It is worth mentioning that digital applications are more interactive than traditional means of communication in creating an interactive environment.
  3. The need to pay attention to document the achievements of governmental ministries for providing services to the public in order to achieve the objectives of digital public relations in creating an interactive environment in ministries to spread a continuous positive image
  4. Working on diversifying the use of various digital communication strategies such as the interactive strategy, the participation strategy, the surprise strategy and the dialogue strategy.
